Discover Rekado Filipino Comfort Cuisine

If you're in Davao City and craving a comforting, flavorful experience that brings a taste of Filipino tradition with a modern twist, Rekado Filipino Comfort Cuisine is the place to be. Nestled in the heart of the Poblacion District at 1050 Emilio Jacinto Ext, this cozy diner promises not only an inviting atmosphere but also a delicious array of dishes that represent the best of Filipino comfort food.

Walking into Rekado, you’ll immediately notice its warm and welcoming vibe. The design reflects a modern Filipino aesthetic, blending rustic elements with contemporary touches. Whether you’re enjoying a casual lunch with friends or a family dinner, the ambiance makes you feel right at home. The friendly staff add a personal touch, ensuring that your visit is more than just about the food - it’s about the experience.

One of the standout features of Rekado is its diverse menu. The restaurant offers a variety of Filipino dishes that bring comfort to anyone who’s ever been homesick or simply in the mood for something hearty. From classic favorites to more innovative dishes, Rekado’s menu has something for everyone.

Start with their signature appetizers, like the crispy tuna kinilaw or the rich sinigang na baboy that’s perfect for a rainy day. Both dishes showcase Rekado’s dedication to fresh, high-quality ingredients. If you’re a fan of rich, savory flavors, the adobong manok served with a twist is a must-try. Unlike traditional adobo, this version is infused with herbs and spices, creating a deeper, more layered taste profile. Each bite will remind you of home, yet with a distinct Rekado flair.

For the main course, the options are plentiful. One of the top picks on the menu is their lumpiang shanghai, which comes packed with crispy ground pork and vegetables, dipped in a special sauce that takes it to the next level. Another favorite is their sizzling bulalo, where tender beef shank is served on a hot plate, ensuring that every bite is juicy and flavorful.

What makes Rekado stand out is its ability to blend traditional Filipino comfort food with innovative twists. A dish like their bacon-topped kare-kare shows off this creative spirit. While the dish stays true to its original flavors with a rich peanut sauce, the addition of crispy bacon gives it an unexpected crunch that enhances the overall texture and flavor.

As for drinks, Rekado’s selection of local juices and iced teas perfectly complements the dishes. Their calamansi juice, made from fresh local limes, is a refreshing choice and pairs wonderfully with the hearty dishes.

In terms of value, Rekado doesn’t disappoint. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and the level of care put into every dish. The diner’s commitment to using fresh, locally sourced produce shines through in every bite, and it’s clear that they take pride in supporting local farmers and suppliers.

While Rekado may be a casual diner, it’s clear that it strives for excellence in every aspect. The food is consistently good, the staff is attentive, and the atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to indulge in the comforting flavors of Filipino cuisine. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Rekado is definitely worth a visit. You’ll leave not just satisfied but also with a deeper appreciation for the versatility and richness of Filipino comfort food.

For those planning to visit, Rekado is conveniently located at 1050 Emilio Jacinto Ext, Poblacion District, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur. The restaurant also receives rave reviews from customers who appreciate the balance between authentic flavors and contemporary dining. Whether you're in the mood for something traditional or a little more inventive, Rekado delivers it all with style and passion. So, if you're in Davao City, make sure to stop by Rekado Filipino Comfort Cuisine and treat yourself to a delightful culinary experience.

  • Definitely a good place to enjoy your love for food. The serving is big as well and it's delicious - definitely for family and sharing. We also love the atmosphere of the restaurant, it gives an intimate feeling that is really what we like when dining in restaurants. Can't wait to get back with our family again.

  • This is one of the very few I could think of that’s not a hotel buffet or a drive-by café for early breakfast. When folks are in town after mass we head over here. The plated options are worth the price and size. An easy-filling rice meal with a cup of hot tableya (plus chocolate spoon) does the trick and could last me till mid-afternoon. We did lunch/dinner reservations in the past for a function room. Their Filipino foods are decently acceptable too. Just watch out for flies hovering above. It’s proven that staff attentiveness changes when it gets too busy. Parking at specific hours can even be challenging.

  • It had been a while since my last visit, and the first thing I noticed was how much the place has expanded. The extra space makes it feel more open and accommodating, yet it hasn’t lost that warm, welcoming vibe that drew me in the first time. It’s the kind of environment where you feel instantly at ease, whether you’re there to relax, catch up, or get a little work done. The staff deserves a special mention. They’re just as hospitable as ever—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring without being overbearing. That level of service really sets the tone and makes the whole experience enjoyable. It’s one of those little details that sticks with you and keeps you coming back. What makes this spot stand out is its versatility. It’s perfect for round-table discussions where everyone can comfortably join in the conversation, but it’s equally great for family gatherings. The setup encourages interaction, laughter, and long conversations over good food. Speaking of food, it’s consistently good. The menu offers solid choices, and the flavors never disappoint. It’s not overly fancy, but it’s satisfying in the best way—something that complements the atmosphere and makes you want to stay longer. Overall, it’s a place worth recommending, whether for work, family, or just enjoying a good meal.

  • **Great Food, But Portions Have Shrunk** My girlfriend and I love Rekado. We first ate here last year and were amazed by their kare-kare and lechon kawali. Fast forward to this year, I brought my girlfriend and my brother to eat again. While the food was still delicious, the portions were significantly smaller—about 50% less. I posted a comparison of the kare-kare and lechon kawali dishes: on the left is April 2023, and on the right is May 2024. You can see that the portions have literally halved or more. Additionally, this time, the kare-kare had only one piece with actual meat, and it was very little. When we visited, there was an event, and we asked the server how long it would take for the food. The estimate was 15-20 minutes, but the food arrived in 25-30 minutes. It would have been fine if our expectations had been set correctly from the start, so we could have ordered appetizers since we were already hungry. Overall, the food is still delicious, but please improve the portion sizes.
